Capturing the attention of a visitor is a matter of seconds. Make sure that somebody who opens your website will surely stay and take a look around. Creating an image for your website is just like building a character or an avatar. Here are the five steps of achieving website uniqueness in parallel with creating a character.

1. Head and face - Branding

Yes, just as an avatar or a character, every website has to have a 'face' that differentiates it from the endless crowd of other websites. Using the Branding Settings options of the MyCylex editor is perfect for this purpose. If you haven't used it yet, now is the time to do it. Upload a logo, a favicon and type in your site name and the slogan of your business. These four will come together as the first step towards giving a personal touch to your website.

2. Body – Content (shape it like Google tells you to)

The next step is outlining a body, which in the case of a website equals creating content. Whenever someone tries to find the secret that lies behind being on the top of the search engine results page, the first and foremost advice given by Google employees is this: 'have unique and valuable content that is useful for the visitors'. Keeping this in mind, you need to fill your website with texts and images that are specific to your business. Seeing that the images are that of a real business, and the texts differ from the general ones that usually appear on websites, will make your visitors trusting and encourage them to read more.

3. Clothing – Design, always makes the difference

In theory clothing should not be important, but when you think about it, this is one of the things that first raises the attention. This is why in terms of the website, you should pick the outfit aka the design that best represents your business. Be sure that the theme you have chosen is the right one. Use horizontal rows, content splitters and sidebars to organise the content on your website, meaning separate texts from images and place them on the right spot. It is also important to edit your text, to give it a pleasant and appealing appearance. Add colours, use different styles and font families in order to highlight the most important information and the message you want to get through.

4. Accessories – Offers, Promotions, Videos

Although, having a fine taste in clothing is essential, accessories are also crucial for making a good impression. Try to put features on your website that will complete what you have done so far, the same way that you would pick the right accessories for your character. There are more ways of doing this depending on your business profile. You could add a page with special offers and promotions, which is updated on a regular basis. This would not only keep your visitors interested, but also make them come back later. Furthermore, you can add a YouTube video, or an audio file, something that is funny and useful at the same time. Let's face it, nowadays most people would rather watch something than read about it.

5. The final touch – HTML embedder (not as scary as it sounds)

Adding that 'little extra' is never easy, but it's always worth the effort. Just like a great hairstyle or the smile on a character's face can be the missing thing that makes your character whole, there are a few elements that can do the same for your website. Use the HTML embedder to add elements like a booking widget, or a feedback form, to make sure that your website is complete.

These are only a few tips that you can use, the important thing is to get creative. Remember, the visitors consider that 'what you see is what you get'. If they see that you have an outstanding website they will want to purchase something or use your services.
